The 2018 Masters Tournament wrapped up on Sunday evening, with Augusta native Patrick Reed winning and taking home the green jacket. While Reed spent three years playing golf at Augusta State, he started his collegiate golf career at Georgia, where he spent one year after being booted off the team:
Never forget Masters champ Patrick Reed, a former UGA golfer, rooted for Notre Dame against the Dawgs
It’s a touchy subject amongst Bulldog fans.

He alienated teammates and coaches alike with his me-first attitude and an assortment of alleged misdeeds he has declined to discuss. An arrest for underage drinking and possession of a fake I.D. hastened his departure.
He went on to win back-to-back national championships for his team at Augusta State before going onto the PGA Tour. While Reed’s time as a Bulldog was short, it still exists, which prompted some UGA fans to be upset with Reed when he wore Fighting Irish gear to last year’s Georgia-Notre Dame game in South Bend.
Some weren’t exactly pleased.
As for where his fandom comes from, Reed claims to have been an ND fan since he was growing up (in Georgia!). After Reed’s green jacket ceremony, and really throughout Sunday, this was a topic of conversation:
Notre Dame lost that game 20-19, but sure!
As Reed’s career continues, this probably won’t be the last time we hear about Reed being a Notre Dame fan.
