Graeme Swann has been named the captain of the English T20 team to take on West Indies in the two-match series at the end of the month. This makes him the fifth English captain for the summer, after the selectors had decided to experiment with a split-captaincy theory for the different formats.
Graeme Swann To Captain England For T20Is
Graeme Swann has been named the captain of the English T20I side to take on West Indies in the two T20Is at The Oval.

Swann becomes the captain of the English T20 side after Stuart Broad was ruled out of cricket for the next few weeks because of an injury to his right shoulder. Broad suffered from the injury in the fourth ODI of the ongoing series against Australia.
England were led by Broad in the T20Is against Sri Lanka and India, while Andrew Strauss and Alastair Cook had led the team in the Tests and the ODIs. Eoin Morgan had captained the side in the lone ODI against Ireland and would have been the favourite to take over the job but he is already out of cricket because a back injury and that puts the onus on to the off-spinner Swann to take over the role.
The squad for the two T20Is against West Indies to be played on September 23 and 25 at the Oval will have some new faces including Jonathan Bairstow, Danny Briggs and Scott Borthwick. Among others, there is recall for James Anderson, while Jos Buttler will look to get his chance to impress the selectors after his strong showing for Somerset in the FP T20 tournament.
