The 15th stage of the Giro d'Italia was altered due to high-altitude rain, causing snow on some of the route's climbs. Initially it was thought that the weather would greatly alter the route, but the rain subsided slightly, allowing for all but the final four kilometers of the Col du Galibier to go on as planned. The 238-kilometer Stage 16 is the third-longest of the Giro d'Italia, moving from Valloire to Ivrea.
