Giro d’Italia 2013 Stage 6: TV schedule, map, route and more

Stage 6 of the Giro D’Italia is flat and straight forward, but should be interesting around the final few minutes.

Bryn Lennon

Stage 6 at the Giro D’Italia is one of the easiest of the event, as cyclist race along the Adriatic Coast of Italy’s Apulia region, with native Luca Paolini hoping to maintain his grasp on the event.

After German John Degenkolb won Wednesday’s Stage 5, Paolini still leads by 17 seconds over Roberto Uran -- the same margin he’s held since Stage 3. Considering the relative straightforward nature of Thursday’s stage, he shouldn’t lose or gain more than a few seconds, barring some unforeseen occurrence. He’ll likely try to stay out of trouble, with the day mainly important to those looking to do damage in the points race.

The stage goes 169 kilometers, almost completely flat, not ranging off the coastline for the vast majority of the day, beginning in the town of Mola di Bari and concluding in Margherita di Savoia. Here’s a map, from CyclingNews:

Here’s what Podium Cafe, whose coverage of the Giro is indispensable for those interested, had to say about Stage 6 at the beginning of the race:

This stage is all about Bari and the southeastern coastline. It’s board-flat, runs largely in a straight line, and is dead-certain to end in a sprint. Being only 169km and almost certainly the easiest day of the race (depending on weather), it also is a pretty good sign that the race is about to turn nasty.

Stage 6 will begin at 7:25 a.m. ET, and coverage will start on beIN Sport at 9:45 a.m.
