Germany’s Tony Martin won Wednesday’s Stage 11 at the Tour de France, finishing the 33-kilometer individual time trial in a time of 36 minutes, 29 seconds. Martin’s crossed the finish line in a race against the clock 12 seconds ahead of the Tour’s overall leader, Christopher Froome of Great Britain. Belgium’s Thomas de Gendt finished in third place, 1 minute, 1 second behind Martin.

The course from Avranches to Mont-Saint-Michel is the third-shortest stage in the 2013 Tour de France, only one kilometer longer than Stage 17 and eight kilometers longer than Stage 4. Ahead of the race, Froome described the course as “flat and fast,” a stark difference from many of the mountainous stages in the Tour. Froome retained his ownership of the yellow jersey.

Here is the top five for the Tour de France’s Stage 11:

1. Tony Martin, Omega Pharma-Quick Step: 36:29
2. Christopher Froome, Sky Procycling: 36:41
3. Thomas de Gendt, Vacansoleil-DCM: 37:30
4. Richie Porte, Sky Procycling: 37:50
5. Michal Kwiatkowski, Omega Pharma-Quick Step: 38:00
