After back-to-back medium-mountain stages, the riders in the 2013 Tour de France will face a different challenge on Tuesday in Stage 4’s short team time trial. The flat, non-technical course shouldn’t be too much of a challenge for the majority of riders and could lead to an exciting and close finish.

The first time trial of the 2013 Tour de France hits Tuesday as riders get a day away from the mountains.

Tuesday’s stage will be the first team time trial stage since the 2011 Tour. The Garmin-Sharp team won that stage and although their roster is a bit different in 2013, they are among the favorites heading into Stage 4. BMC Racing team and Team Sky are also expected to contend for Tuesday’s stage.
The stage, which loops around the city of Nice, is the shortest stage in the 2013 race at 25km. It is the first on the mainland of France after three stages on the island Corsica. The stage will be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network with coverage beginning at 9 a.m. ET.
