Peter Sagan won the Stage 7 of the 2013 Tour de France on Friday when he sprint out ahead of John Degenkolb in the final 100 meters of the 205.5-kilometer trek from Montpellier to Albi. Sagan also easily won the intermediate sprint 135 kilometers into the race to further extend his lead in the points classification. With the Tour about to enter the mountains, there will be few opportunities for riders to take the green jersey off his back before the race hits the Champs-Elysees.

Daryl Impey will once again ride in yellow Saturday as the overall leader in the general classification. He maintained his three-second lead over Edvald Boasson Hagen, thanks again to a strong team performance by Orica-GreenEdge. Three riders -- Jan Bakelants, Cyril Gautier and Juan Jose Oroz -- attempted a breakaway following the intermediate sprint, but all three were caught within 10 kilometers from the finish.

Stage 8 could be the start of a big shakeup in the general classification standings. The Tour has so far favored sprinters, but the 195-kilometer ride to Ax-3-Domaines in the Pyrenees, which finishes on a Category 1 climb, could see pre-Tour favorite Christopher Froome (eight seconds back) claiming the yellow jersey from Impey.
