Team Sky’s Chris Froome added 30 seconds to his lead in Stage 9 of the Tour de France on Sunday, the second stage of the race through the Pyrenees Mountains. The British cyclist took the yellow jersey in Saturday’s Stage 8 and finished Sunday’s stage with a one minute and 25 second lead over Team Movistar’s Alejandro Valverde.

Froome was the runner-up in last year’s Tour de France.

Richie Porte, Froome’s Team Sky teammate, was in second place after Stage 8 but dropped drastically on Sunday and is now in 33rd place, over 18 minutes off the pace of his teammate. Many of the remaining riders in the top 10 stayed the same. Ireland’s Daniel Martin of Team Garmin-Sharp won Stage 9 and moved from 13th overall to eighth. He’s two minutes and 28 seconds off Froome’s pace.

Two-time Tour de France winner Alberto Contador, of Team Saxo-Tinkoff, moved up one spot to sixth place.

After consecutive mountain stages, the race takes a day off Monday and resumes Tuesday with Stage 10. The 193-kilometer flat stage stage goes from Saint-Gildas-des-Bois to Saint-Malo.
