The highest-rated climb of the Tour de France awaits on Friday, as Stage 13 will take riders from Saint-Etienne through Chamrousse, a distance of 200 kilometers. The first 170km of the stage will be interesting, but the main event is the uphill climb over the final 30km.

Stage 13 of the Tour de France will feature the highest-rated climb, up Chamrousse.

The first test will be the category three climb, and then a long section of relatively flat roads before the Col de Palaquit category one climb once riders reach the final 60 km. But it’s the final climb up Chamrousse, a full 18.2km at 7.3 percent grade. It’s going to be a tough one, and could shake up the race for the yellow jersey.
As noted by the folks at Podium Cafe, the riders make the race much more than the road does, so there will still be plenty of competition throughout this climb. It’s not just going to be a couple climbers slogging it out on their own, in other words. If there’s an attack to be made, it definitely will be.
