Tour de France 2014 results and standings, Stage 17: Majka wins, Nibali increases lead

Majka gets his second stage win of this tour.

Rafal Majka, who became the first Polish cyclist to win a tour in 21 years in stage 14, won again on Wednesday in the latest tour stage to go through the Alps. Majka was even with second-place finisher Giovanni Viscoti, before pulling away in the last 2.5 kilometers.

The third place finisher still made headlines, as Vincenzo Nibali increased his tour lead over second place Alejandro Valverde Belmonte to 5 minutes and 26 seconds.

The 17th stage — running from Saint-Gaudens to Saint-Lary Pla d’Adet — featured a 1,300-kilometer climb through the mountains. Stage 18 will continue the grueling stretch through the mountains.
