The Tour de France continues in the mountains on Thursday, with stage 18 running from Pau to Hautacam. And as the steepness of the terrain continues to increase, so does Vincenzo Nibali’s lead.

The Tour continues through the mountains on Thursday.


While Rafal Majka was the winner of Stage 17, Nibali was perhaps the biggest winner overall, finishing third in the Alpine stage and widening his lead on the rest of the pack to his current standing at 5 minutes and 26 seconds ahead of second place Alejandro Valverde Belmonte.
Stage 18 covers 145.5 kilometers and features a heavy climb that ends two-thirds of the way through. The day starts at an elevation of 195 meters and peaks at 2,115 meters 95.5 kilometers in.
