Following an eventful first day on Saturday, the riders in the Tour de France will be back on the course on Sunday for Stage 2. The race will continue in England with riders beginning in York and finishing some 201km later in Sheffield.

Marcel Kittel will begin the stage in the lead, having won Stage 1. It appeared Mark Cavendish would open Stage 2 not far off the lead as he was part of the final sprint for the finish line and looked to be on his way to a top 10 finish. He ended up getting tangled with another rider, however, leading to a late crash and causing him to finish in 192nd place.

The setup of Stage 2 has the makings to be a very interesting race. While there aren’t any long, massive climbs, it won’t be a day for the sprinters. There are a number of short, but significant climbs, including five category 3 climbs and two category 4 climbs. The course is also narrow in places, which could make for some precarious riding. The second and final category 4 climb comes near the end of the race, not far from Sheffield.

The stage is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. local time or 6 a.m. ET. NBC Sports Network and NBC will once again combine to broadcast live coverage. NBC Sports Network will open the coverage beginning at 6 a.m. and running until noon. NBC will then broadcast for two hours from 4 to 6 p.m. NBCSN’s nightly studio show, Tour Primetime, will air from 8 to 11 p.m.

Stage 2 coverage:

TV: NBC Sports Network - 6 a.m. to 12 p.m., NBC - 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
