Vuelta 2016 live stream: Time, TV schedule and how to watch Stage 16 online with NBC Sports Gold

Stage 16 of the Vuelta a Espana is here, and it should offer relief for tired and sore legs throughout the peloton.

No stage on a major cycling tour can rightly be described as “easy” by those of us who aren’t competing, but Stage 16 at the Vuelta a Espana is the closest thing to it. After an arduous two weeks (and a very arduous past few days), the long drag of the route from Alcañiz to Peníscola is almost leisurely.

The route will run 156.4 kilometers and includes about 90 kilometers of a drag and a relatively calm and easy 50-kilometer descent. There is a final flat at the end of just 15 kilometers, and it’s safe to say the stage should favor sprinters. With some of the biggest climbs of the Vuelta in the rear-view mirror, it’s time for sprinters to shine.

In particular, the final 15 kilometers should result in a very exciting sprint for the finish, though with the peloton likely battling fatigue and soreness, it’s possible the finish will leave something to be desired.

Monday’s stage is set to begin at 7:45 a.m. ET, with an approximate end time of just before noon. The earliest live video begins at 9 a.m. with an online stream via NBC Sports Gold, and it’s the best way to watch Monday’s action. Below is a look at the stage profile and below that is all the information you need to watch Stage 16.
