SB Nation Recruiting is on the scene in Atlanta for the second Elite 11 camp of the season as prospects from around the region show up to show out and earn an invite to the finals.
Chase Litton standing out among Atlanta Elite 11 participants
The pro-style prospect from Florida has impressed on Friday.
According to SB Nation college football editor Jason Kirk, Tampa (Fl.) Wharton pro-style prospect Chase Litton may be the best prospect in attendance, with consistent efforts, including strong touch on his deep balls.
One string of throws drew high praise from the coaches at the event and one of them even drew some exclamations from his fellow campers, an effort that KIrk said may have been the best throw he’s seen out there.
A slow delivery is not an ideal trait for Hollywood (Fl.) Miramar pro-style prospect Nick Jeanty, but the coaches are praising him for his efforts and noting his arm strength. Jeanty is a consensus three-star prospect who currently holds an offer from Central Florida.
Marietta (Ga.) Walton pro-style passer Price Wilson is a consensus three-star prospect with offers from Marshall, Eastern Kentucky, and Louisiana Tech. An unexpected pass rush caught him by surprise and the coaches have been giving him feedback on his footwork, but the local product has been accurate with his deep ball.
Sporting Syracuse shorts and socks, Lebanon (Ten.) Friendship Christian dual-threat recruit A.J. Long is notably vocal and charismatic, the type of “thermostat” leadership that Elite 11 coach Trent Dilfer continually preaches. Long has a tendency to follow up a good throw with efforts that come out of his hand wobbly. Dilfer talked extensively with SB Nation Recruiting last week about the important of loading the wrist in the windup to get a tight spin on the football, so perhaps a lack of load there is hurting Long.
One of the standouts from the Dallas Elite 11 camp was Marreo (La.) Archbishop Shaw pro-style gunslinger Quentin Gibson. He’s once again having a strong weekend, connecting well on his deep passes and receiving instruction during a drill in which the quarterbacks work on throwing the entire route tree.
Elite 11 coach Trent Dilfer is a big fan of Gibson, so he’s a slightly under-the-radar prospect who could end up being in the mix to snag a coveted invite to the finals in Oregon.
The Elite 11 camps in part measure the ability of a quarterback to rebound from early struggles and improve during the day. According to Kirk, Marietta (Ga.) Wheeler dual-threat prospect Elijah Staley, a dual-sport athlete, got better during the day, perhaps benefitting from a significant amount of feedback given to him by the coaches.
