Hungarian Grand Prix 2016 live stream: Start time, TV schedule, starting grid and how to watch Formula 1 online

Lewis Hamilton will not have pole position for the Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix as he tries to pass Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg in the Drivers’ Championship standings. Hamilton once trailed Rosberg by more than 40 points in the standings, but has steadily gained on him through the last race, when Hamilton pulled within a single point of his teammate.

Sunday’s showdown begins at 8 a.m. ET and will be broadcast in the United States on NBCSN. A live stream will be available via NBC Sports Live Extra.

The race stewards were investigating Rosberg for potentially not slowing down enough under yellow flags during Saturday’s qualifying session, but ultimately cleared him and allowed him to keep pole position. Hamilton is right behind him on the first row.

Hamilton was unhappy with the yellow flag issues, as he had to abort his lap due to those same flags. Rosberg came into the double yellow zone just as Fernando Alonso was getting back onto the track after spinning out, and only lost a tenth of second when he briefly let up.

“It just needs to be clarified now,” Hamilton said. “Us drivers need to understand the yellow flag situation, because obviously in the way that it’s written is potentially not the way it’s interpreted, either by the stewards or the drivers.”

The Mercedes drivers have locked out the front row of the grid for the sixth time this season. However, they’ve only converted one of those starts into a one-two finish, and have come together in crashes multiple times this season. There will surely be plenty of battling between the two throughout the race, but with a long run to the first corner, the start will be the most intriguing.

If either Mercedes driver has a bad start, or if they get into eachother’s way as they have several times this season, the Red Bulls of Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen are waiting just behind them. Those two locked out the second row, and feel good about their chances to push the Mercedes drivers at the Hungaroring

The Ferrari of Sebastian Vettel will start in fifth, though his teammate Kimi Raikkonen will start in a disappointing 14th on the grid after a rough qualifying session. Carlos Sainz rounds out the third row alongside Vettel.

The McLaren team of Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button locked out the fourth row, as the pair seem to be getting better and better while the team makes improvements to its Honda-powered car. Finally, the Force India of Nico Hulkenberg and the Williams of Valtteri Bottas round out the top 10.

The American-owned Haas team continues to struggle to make it into the third qualifying session, with Romain Grosjean starting 11th and Esteban Gutierrez starting 15th. Felipe Massa of Williams will start in a disappointing 18th place after crashing early in qualifying. Rio Haryanto and Marcus Ericsson also crashed out in the first qualifying session.
