The Russian Grand Prix is here and Mercedes will likely have their hands full as they will both start behind Ferrari on the grid.

As has been the case since 2014, the Grand Prix will take place at the Sochi Autodrom in Sochi, Krasnodar Krai, Russia. Fans of the sport watching in the United States will need to get up early to watch the event, which will be broadcast by NBCSN beginning at 7:30 a.m. ET.
A live stream of the race will also be available via NBC Sports Live in the United States, requiring login credentials from a participating cable or satellite provider.
Vettel, winner of the Australian and Chinese Grands Prix, put together the best lap of the day to take pole in qualifying. The Mercedes drivers were out-performing Vettel and teammate Kimi Raikkonen, up until the final corners. Both Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas had troubles getting around the last corner clean.
Neither Vettel nor Raikkonen had such troubles.
That created a top four of Vettel, Raikkonen, Bottas and Hamilton. It’s the second race in a row that Bottas has out-qualified his new teammate. The third row was split between Daniel Ricciardo of Red Bull and Felipe Massa of Williams.
The other Red Bull, from Max Verstappen, came in eighth while the other Williams, from Lance Stroll, didn’t manage to make it out of the second qualifying session and will line up at No. 12 on the grid. Stroll has still not finished a race this season.
“I had a good start to the lap and then I lost a lot of grip in the last sector, made a couple of mistakes and just lost the rear, which wasn’t great,” Stroll said. “I was a couple of tenths up but didn’t manage to hold it. There is more in it.”
In other words, he thinks his Williams had enough power to deliver and that he let the car down.
Behind Verstappen is the Renault of Nico Hulkenberg and then the fifth row is locked out by the Force India cars of Sergio Perez and Esteban Ocon.
