Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes pulled 25 points at the Canadian Grand Prix on Sunday. Hamilton went from pole to victory a week after he struggled in Monaco. He’s narrowed the gap to Sebastian Vettel of Ferrari.
F1 2017: New points standings after Canadian Grand Prix
Mercedes made a big jump after a 1-2 finish in the Canadian Grand Prix on Sunday.

Mercedes now leads Ferrari in the Constructors Championship, 222-214.
Hamilton entered Sunday’s race a full 24 points behind Vettel in the Drivers Championship. That’s because Hamilton had a rough qualifying in Monaco and started outside the top 10, while Vettel went from second on the grid to a first-place finish and a full 25 points.
Ferrari took a hit in the Constructors Championship, and drivers Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen also suffered in the Drivers Championship. Vettel took some front wing damage on the first lap and did not have a good start, getting passed by Max Verstappen of Red Bull and Valtteri Bottas of Mercedes.
Raikkonen lost some places when he nearly lost control of his car. Vettel had to pit to repair the damage to the front wing. Vettel entered the race as the leader in the Drivers Championship, but had some serious ground to make up.
Verstappen, despite his incredible start and the fact that he was challenging Hamilton, suffered an engine failure and had to stop on Lap 11, ending his race and erasing his shot of getting points.
A wretched day for Toro Rosso came to an end when Daniil Kvyat had to retire his car during a pit stop around Lap 58. Kvyat’s team was having issues getting the tires on, and he became the fourth person knocked from the race. That means no points for either driver and no points for Toro Rosso.
Force India picked up some good points, but it was far less than they should have had. Esteban Ocon had the much better tires and was set to pass teammate Sergio Perez, but the team refused to order Perez aside. This meant that Ocon wasted his tires, and allowed Vettel to eventually pass both Force India drivers.
They were potentially looking at a podium for Ocon, but instead settled for fifth and sixth. It also means Vettel limited the damage to his Drivers Championship lead.
McLaren nearly got points in the race, with Fernando Alonso racing in the points up until the second to last lap. Unfortunately, more car issues ended his race right at the end and he did not get any points.
Below are the full Drivers Championship standings, and below that are the Constructors Championship standings.
