It will be Mercedes vs. Ferrari once again as Formula One returns from its extended break for the Belgian Grand Prix at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. Lewis Hamilton has pole position while Sebastian Vettel will be next to him on the front row.
Formula 1 2017: Belgian Grand Prix starting grid, lineup
F1 is back with the Belgian Grand Prix on Sunday. Lewis Hamilton has pole and here’s all you need to know.

The race will be broadcast by NBCSN in the United States, beginning bright and early at 8 a.m. ET. There will be live streaming available as well, via NBC Sports Live in web browsers on PC and the NBC Sports app on various connected devices.
Hamilton equaled Michael Schumaker’s record of 68 pole positions, and he’ll use that spot to try and pass Vettel in the Drivers Championship. First place awards 25 points, and Hamilton trails Vettel by 14 points. Valtteri Bottas, Hamilton’s Mercedes teammate, qualified in third and is still in the running 19 points back of Hamilton.
The second row also has Kimi Raikkonen, Vettel’s Ferrari teammate. It was recently revealed that both Raikkonen and Vettel will remain with Ferrari next year, with Vettel signing a multi-year extension with the Italian team.
Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo of Red Bull continue their streak of being better than the rest while being unable to compete with Mercedes and Ferrari, taking the fifth and sixth spots in qualifying, respectively.
Nico Hulkenberg of Renault made it past the two Force India cars of Sergio Perez and Esteban Ocon, while his teammate, Jolyon Palmer, rounds out the top 10. That pushed Fernando Alonso of the struggling Honda-McLaren team out of the top 10.
Alonso will start 11th even after he got a tow from teammate Stoffel Vandoorne in qualifying. Vandoorne was able to give the tow because he’s serving a stupidly large 65-place grid penalty for engine changes for this race.
The American-owned Haas team saw Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen qualify in 12th and 13th, respectively. Felipe Massa of Williams didn’t make it out of the first qualifying session and was also given a five-place grid penalty for speeding under yellow flag conditions in practice.
Below is the full lineup and starting grid for Sunday, and below that is all you need to know to watch the action.
