The Miami Dolphins look to get back to their winning ways this season after going 8-9 and not making the playoffs for the first time with Mike McDaniel as their coach. The vibes, they haven’t been good of late in Miami, but winning could quickly take care of that. They’ll start their season on the road in Indianapolis where they are 1.5-point underdogs.
Ollie Gordon start or sit: Week 1 fantasy football advice
We break down the fantasy football outlook of Ollie Gordon ahead of Week 1

McDaniel’s offense will look similar to last year, as DeVon Achane, Tyreek Hill, and Jaylen Waddle will man the top playmaker positions. Achane was dealing with a calf injury, but has been able to practice this week and says he is 100%. That isn’t great news for those of us who grabbed his backup, Ollie Gordon, in fantasy drafts, but it’s still good that he is the RB2 in this Week 1 matchup.
Below, we’ll go over Ollie Gordon’s outlook in fantasy football for Week 1.
Fantasy Football analysis: Dolphins, RB, Ollie Gordon
Gordon was a sixth-round pick out of Oklahoma State. His ability points toward him being a between the tackles back, instead of the usual track stars McDaniel goes after. But that may be what the team needs; someone to punish defenders. Gordon looked great in preseason and fantasy footballers like myself are happy to roster him. The question is, how safe is he behind Achane from week to week?
Without seeing him play in a real NFL game, it is nearly impossible to find much stability in his fantasy floor. There are plenty of ways he is worth starting this week, but there’s also a real chance he just doesn’t get the work he needs.
Start or sit in Week 1 PPR leagues?
Sit. Achane dominates passing work out of the backfield and will continue to do so. What we want to see out of Gordon in this game are 10ish touches, with some of those around the goal line. That would lend itself to standard leagues, which prioritize touchdowns.
Start or sit in Week 1 standard leagues?
Sit. I’d be more inclined to give Gordon a flex start in standard leagues for his touchdown upside, but at this point we don’t know how he’ll be used.
