The Las Vegas Raiders head to New England to take on the Patriots as 2-point underdogs, Both teams have new head coaches and a lot of new faces. Maybe the most interesting new player will be the Raiders quarterback Geno Smith, who should help stabilize a position that has been unstable for the Raiders for quite a while now. His presence should help the receiver we’re look at today, Jakobi Meyers, who returns to face his first NFL team for a possible revenge narrative.
Jakobi Meyers start or sit: Week 1 fantasy football advice
We break down the fantasy football outlook of Jakobi Meyers ahead of Week 1

Meyers has been an above average receiver in the NFL through his six seasons, but he didn’t really breakout until he secured the No. 1 job in Las Vegas the last two seasons. He is coming off his first 1,000 yard season and hopes to continue that trend this year.
Below, we’ll go over Jakobi Meyers’ outlook in fantasy football for Week 1.
Fantasy Football analysis: Raiders, WR, Jakobi Meyers
Meyers will once again take a back seat to tight end Brock Bowers, who led the team in targets, receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns last season. He’ll also have some pressure from rookie speedster D’onte Thornton, who could win usage as the season goes on. But, new addition Amari Cooper won’t cut into his work, as he decided to hang up his cleats just days before the season starts.
Meyers should see some of the Patriots new corner, Carlton Davis, which is tough, but it also looks like CB Christian Gonzalez won’t be able to play, which could be extremely helpful. Meyers is still the top wide receiver and we can’t expect Thornton to take away targets from him in Week 1.
Start or sit in Week 1 PPR leagues?
Start. Meyers doesn’t have big upside in what should be a run-oriented offense, but the offense as a whole should be better, giving him more scoring opportunities. If I’m choosing between Meyers and someone with a bit more upside in a game more suited for big receiving numbers, I would pivot off him. But as it is, I like his floor in what should be a close contest.
