The New England Patriots host the Las Vegas Raiders Sunday to start the 2025 season. Both teams look to improve after poor 2024 campaigns. The Patriots offense is their weak link, but an offensive lineman and running back with their first two draft picks and the acquisition of veteran receiver Stefon Diggs should help move things along. They already have a young quarterback in Drake Maye who showed signs he can be the real deal in his rookie year. Now in his second year, he gets some much needed help.
Stefon Diggs start or sit: Week 1 fantasy football advice
We break down the fantasy football outlook of Stefon Diggs ahead of Week 1

Diggs joins the team after stints with the Vikings, Bills, and Texans. A torn ACL ended his season in Week 8 of last year, but all signs point to him being healthy to start 2025. Age and injury history are a concern, but he was still playing at a high level before his injury.
Below, we’ll go over Stefon Diggs’ outlook in fantasy football for Week 1.
Fantasy Football analysis: Patriots, WR, Stefon Diggs
Diggs was on pace for 100 receptions, 1,054 yards and six touchdown receptions before his injury last year. Of course, the question is whether or not he’ll be the same player following his torn ACL? It’s impossible to know that yet, but all indications are that he’s still a strong starter and ready to roll against the Raiders this week.
Start or sit in Week X PPR leagues?
Start. Diggs has been a great PPR player in his career, as he is a great route runner and can separate with the best of them. He had four 100+ reception seasons coming into last year and was on pace to hit the mark again before his injury. The Raiders perimeter pass defense is also weak, as is their defensive line. Time, ability, and matchup should be on Diggs’ side.
Start or sit in Week X standard leagues?
Start. Diggs should be Maye’s no-doubt top target to start the season, so I expect them to try to get things going early in a strong matchup.
