Best DFS picks for Chiefs at Chargers in Week 1

The NFL brings you the second game of the season on a Friday night in São Paulo, Brazil, as the AFC Champion Kansas City Chiefs take on division rivals, the Los Angeles Chargers. Kansas City is favored by 3-points, with an over/under of 46.5. The Chiefs will look to go to their fourth Super Bowl in a row this season and their sixth in seven years, while the Chargers hope to continuing improving in head coach Jim Harbaugh’s second year.

Below we will take a look at the best DFS plays for the Friday slate.

Worthy has the highest upside outside of the QBs tonight. No Rashee Rice again makes the second-year receiver the No. 1 target, much like he was to end last year. Be sure to stack him with Mahomes, who has the highest upside of anyone in this game.

This is all about price and ability, as the Chiefs have a strong run defense. The thing is, FanDuel priced Hampton and Najee Harris before Harris missed all of training camp and preseason with an eye injury. Harris is going to play, but Hampton is in the driver’s seat after getting all the work with the first team this summer. Add in the fact he’s their first round pick and there’s no reason t0 not hand him the keys to start this year.

Allen didn’t put up great numbers with the Bears last year, but he did command a 27% target share in their awful offense. Now back with Justin Herbert, he has a good chance to see plenty of looks, especially if the favorite Chiefs can get out to a lead. If you can make it work, Ladd McConkey also makes for a fine captain, but I do like the pivot to Allen to open up some cash.

Johnston isn’t going away with Keenan Allen in the fold, but he will likely will have low roster ship behind Ladd McConkey and Allen. He makes for a good pivot to help set apart your lineup. He’s still a starter and with the Chiefs strong run defense, I’d prefer taking a risk on a Chargers receiver.

Gray had his best season last year as he helped compensate for Travis Kelce’s decline. Gray ended up catching three or more passes in eight games, while finding the end zone five ties to Kelce’s three. His usage means his floor is zero, but he only had two games without a catch last year. He also had four receptions in each of his games against the Chargers.

Brown has yet to find his way with the Chiefs, as injuries continue to derail his progress, but he is a starter and a deep threat who can put up big points in a hurry. Kansas City wants badly to open up downfield passing this season and I expect Brown to get some shots in this matchup.
