The New England Patriots hoped for a much better start to their season at home against the Raiders, but unfortunately for them, they lost 20-13. They now head to Miami to take on the struggling Dolphins who were easily beaten by the Daniel Jones led Colts in Week 1.

Coming into this season we wondered how veteran starter Rhamondre Stevenson and rookie TreVeyon Henderson would split work to start the season. We now know! Henderson got the start and was the lead back, but he also got the passing down work to go with short yardage. But, that doesn’t mean Henderson didn’t get involved. The rookie rotated in for Stevenson in all situations other than goal line and he put up better numbers in the process. Henderson ran the ball 5 times for 27 yards and caught all six of his targets for 24 more yards, while Stevenson ran the ball 7 times for 15 yards and caught 2-of-3 targets for 12 more yards.

Below, we’ll go over TreVeyon Henderson’s outlook in fantasy football for Week 1.

Fantasy Football analysis: Patriots, RB, TreVeyon Henderson

The Dolphins run defense was middle of the pack last season, and in Week 1 they played well against Jonathan Taylor, holding him to 3.9 yards per carry and no touchdowns. But, they did allow Daniel Jones to rush for two touchdowns himself.

What we need from Henderson is to continue to see targets. His six receptions in Week 1 had him as RB24 in full PPR, while he was RB32 in standard. He also has much more upside to break a big run than his results showed in Week 1. We want to get him in our starting lineups for that upside, but only if he can continue to have a good fantasy floor by grabbing receptions.

Start or sit in Week 2 PPR leagues?

Start. Henderson is a good receiver and should continue to win targets over Stevenson. I’m comfortable starting him in a flex spot in PPR leagues.

Start or sit in Week 2 standard leagues?

Sit. This one is close. Could Henderson have won more touches in that Week 1 game? Maybe. But I don’t believe the team is going to move off Stevenson as the early down, goal line back at this point. He does have flex appeal in standard, as I do like his big play upside, but not getting points from receptions could kill his floor.
