Denver Broncos QB Tim Tebow is now even more efficient as an NFL passer than he has been as an NFL goal line runner, throwing a three-yard touchdown to FB Spencer Larsen on his first career pass. He also ran in a score earlier, giving him a better fantasy scoring day than Peyton Manning or Vince Young.
Tim Tebow’s First NFL Pass: Tim Tebow’s First NFL Touchdown
With a career 118.8 passer rating, Tebow now has four all-purpose touchdowns in his 12 regular season Broncos snaps. Today’s blowout against the Kansas City Chiefs is likely freeing up the Broncos playbook a little, plus Josh McDaniels looks like he bores pretty easily, but this does appear to be a somewhat regular component of the Broncos offense.
Denver seems to be following the model provided by Tebow’s progression as a college passer. In 2006, the Florida Gators used the freshman in short-yardage sets as a passing fullback thing before moving him into a true starting role the next year. Kyle Orton’s lights-out play rules out a starting job for Tebow in Denver in that short of a time span, but he’s at least carved out a role for himself as a rookie in an NFL offense.
