Adrian Peterson Ankle Injury: AP Returns To The Field

After limping off of the field during the second quarter, Peterson was listed as probable to return to the game by the Vikings. But when half time came around Peterson had still not returned to the field nor was he seen attempting to return to the game.

All that changed during the end of half time when Peterson was seen with the Vikings training staff trying to make his way back to the sideline. Peterson was holding his helmet in his hands and looked determined to return to the field of play for the third quarter. Again he would not make an appearance, even though he was still listed as probable after the end of half time.

It appears that Adrian Peterson will attempt to return to the game for the Minnesota Vikings. Despite limping off the field with an apparent ankle injury, Adrian Peterson has been seen holding his helmet and heading towards the sideline for the third quarter.

The Vikings had originally said that Peterson was probable to return to the game against the Washington Redskins but trainers were forced to look at Peterson’s ankle. That prompted speculation that Peterson would not return.

According to Tom Pelissero of ESPN:

Peterson has struggled during the 2010 NFL season to find his form from 2009, when he rushed for 18 touchdowns and 1383 yards on 314 carries. So far this season Peterson has managed only 980 yards and 7 touchdowns on 211 rushes. However, Peterson is having what may turn out to be his best year receiving wise, already having caught 31 passes (good enough for his second best reception number of his career) for 297 yards and a touchdown (which matches his previous career high in a season.
