Peyton Hillis Fantasy Update: Is His Head Ready For The Oakland Raiders?

The Cleveland Browns travel to O.Co Coliseum to face the Oakland Raiders on Sunday and fantasy owners have to be wondering if Peyton Hillis' head is in the game at this point. He has been dealing with all sorts of contract drama that has resulted in players questioning him and his performance down considerably.

A year after playing his way onto the cover of Madden ‘12, Hillis has rushed for 197 yards through three of his team’s four games. The latest drama involved his missing week three with strep throat. The latest report has him skipping it on the advice of his agent and him unsure if he would have sat if he had a contract. This is not exactly the kind of information that inspires a player to dominate the coming week.

Aside from his two touchdown performance against the Colts, Hillis has been fairly mediocre in fantasy play. He rushed for 11 touchdowns in 2010, but also added 1,177 yards so he wasn't exactly a one-trick pony. He now heads into Oakland this weekend looking to begin his fantasy and career redemption. The Raiders are a middle of the road defense, but if Hillis can get past the defensive line, the Raiders linebackers and secondary have some question marks in stopping the run. Of course, easier said than done sometimes.

Peyton Hill remains a guy you start, but another stinker of a game and it might be time to consider other options. You can’t really trade him at this point because his value is low, so you might end up having to stash him on your bench until he straightens out his head. With bye weeks you likely need to use him this week, but another poor performance might require some consideration of alternatives.
