Brandon Jacobs Status Update: Ruled Out Vs. Bills

A knee injury kept New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs from participating in practice for a second straight week, and head coach Tom Coughlin has already ruled Jacobs out for Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills.

Jacobs was "doubtful" for the Giants' Week 5 game against the Seattle Seahawks, but did not play.

With Jacobs demoted to the No. 2 spot behind starter Ahmad Bradshaw, the Giants running game averaged 98.6 yards the first three weeks of the season. Over the last two weeks, the Giants are averaging just 61.5 yards on the ground per game, with Bradshaw limited to just 97 yards on 29 carries against the Arizona Cardinals and Seahawks.

Danny Ware is expected to take on more of a role in the running game, but the Giants may want to include 2011 sixth-round pick Da'Rel Scott in the offense. Scott led the Giants with 213 rushing yards in the preseason, a figure largely comprised of 60+ yard touchdown runs.
