Julio Jones Injury Update: Atlanta Wide Receiver Out This Week

Atlanta Falcons first-round wide receiver Julio Jones will miss this week's game against the Carolina Panthers with a left hamstring injury.

”We are hoping that after this week we will get him back the following week,” Falcons head coach Mike Smith told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Wednesday.

The Falcons traded a package of picks to move up from the 27th spot to select Jones with the sixth overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. An immediate starter opposite Roddy White, Jones is third on the club with 25 receptions, but has a team-high 358 receiving yards on the season. Jones is still searching for his first NFL touchdown, with future Hall of Fame tight end Tony Gonzalez, White and fullback Ovie Mughelli have been on the receiving end of quarterback Matt Ryan's seven touchdown passes this season.

Fourth-year wideout Harry Douglas will start in place of Jones on Sunday.
