Fantasy Football Week 6 Advice: Sit, Start Projections For TEs

Week six of the 2011 NFL season is upon us, which means we have some significant bye weeks to account for in terms of sit/start projections in fantasy football. This week Arizona, Denver, Kansas City, San Diego, Seattle and Tennessee are all on bye, which thankfully for the tight end position does not hurt too much. Aside from the likes of Jared Cook and Jeff King, there aren't no significant tight ends sitting out.

At the same time, there are enough struggling tight ends this season that you need to make some important sit/start decisions at the tight end position in week six. In fantasy football, we have seen the likes of Zach Miller (Sea), Heath Miller and Visanthe Shiancoe all take a nose dive in productivity. Guys who had been staples at the tight end position have either lost a step or are forced to stay in more frequently to block.

Thankfully there are some very intriguing sleepers you would be wise to consider for your week six fantasy football lineup. Here are a few such options if you are struggling at tight end.

Sleepers

I would argue the most significant sleeper tight end this week is Delanie Walker of the 49ers. Under head coach Jim Harbaugh, the tight ends have been used in a variety of ways, although it has not led to huge numbers for Walker, who is often left in the shadow of Vernon Davis. However, with WR Joshua Morgan on injured reserve following a leg injury, the 49ers will be looking for some other receiving options. I have a strong feeling Walker will be a significant part of the offense. He played wide receiver in college before switching to tight end and should get a decent amount of looks on Sunday.

Texans tight end Joel Dreessen is another sleeper, albeit in a tough matchup with the Baltimore Ravens. Dreessen had a strong performance against the Raiders and will likely continue to get looks while Andre Johnson is sidelined. The Ravens are number one in the league defending against tight ends, but Owen Daniels will give them a handful, potentially opening some spots for Dreessen.

Steelers tight end Heath Miller is a traditional point scorer in fantasy football, but has been held back to block quite a bit in 2011. The Steelers though have Max Starks back on their offensive line, which might open up some more opportunities for Miller moving forward. If he is a free agent and you need tight end help, I recommend pouncing.
