Visanthe Shiancoe Fantasy Update: Vikings Tight End Benefitted From Christian Ponder Play

Visanthe Shiancoe has probably been dropped by most of his fantasy owners as they considered his unimpressive start to the Minnesota Vikings season. Shiancoe got back to his old ways on Sunday under new quarterback Christian Ponder, however.

Shiancoe had four receptions for 45 yards and a touchdown. He was targeted eight times, but not all of those targets were catchable balls as Ponder’s rookie status began to show through after a strong start.

Shiancoe was averaging 27 receiving yards a game with 159 receiving yards on the season and 1 touchdown through his first six games of the 2011 NFL season. Shiancoe’s yards per game is down nearly 5 yards per game from last season.

Shiancoe was ranked was not ranked by Yahoo! heading into Week 7 taking on the Minnesota Vikings.
