Week seven of the 2011 NFL season is upon us and while we don't have a whole lot of great football matchups today, fantasy football remains in our life to get us through another Sunday. With six teams on bye this week (Buffalo, Cincinnati, New England, NY Giants, Philadelphia, San Francisco), the lineup decisions get a little more difficult.
Fantasy Football Week 7 Advice: Sit/Start Projections For WRs
The wide receiver position will be without some talented players this week, including the likes of Desean Jackson, Wes Welker, Stevie Johnson, AJ Green, and Hakeem Nicks. It won't decimate most teams, but it does leave some folks in a pickle with their week seven starting lineup.
You know to start guys like Calvin Johnson, Greg Jennings and Mike Wallace (even with his hamstring injury). You seek out fantasy wisdom to make the tougher calls in your lineup. Below we have posted thirty top projections at wide receiver courtesy of numberFire.com. As you scroll through the list, there are some intriguing options for fantasy football.
Sleepers
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Harry Douglas is a solid option as a flex or even possible WR2 option if you are really short on receivers. Julio Jones is doubtful and not expected to play against the Lions, which means Douglas stays in the starting lineup opposite Roddy White. While White is likely to get most of the targets, the Lions will likely roll their defense over to keep White from burning them. Douglas was the Falcons leading receiver last week and will look to build on that performance.
Colts wide receiver Pierre Garcon remains a decent option even with Curtis Painter as his QB. The Colts are heading into New Orleans and while they could get blown, look for them to be in a position to throw the ball quite frequently. Garcon should benefit.
Broncos receiver Eric Decker is another solid sleeper now that he is the leading guy in Denver. The Broncos traded away Brandon Lloyd this past week, which could be good and bad for Decker. On the one hand he is the number one receiver (sorry Eddie Royal) and will likely get a decent amount of targets. On the other hand, he gets to deal with the opposition's number one cornerback, and he has a scrambling QB in Tim Tebow that could result in more runs than normal.
If you need to get real deep down the line, Dolphins receiver Brian Hartline is a deeper option. He doesn't exactly have a stable quarterback in Matt Moore, but if you are desperate, give Hartline some run at your flex position.
