New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram left the team's blowout win over the Colts in the fourth quarter, suffering from a heel injury. Post-game x-rays came up negative for Ingram and for now he appears to simply be dealing with a bruised heel. Ingram finished the game with 14 carries for 91 yards.
Mark Ingram Injury Update: Bruised Hell Ends Night Early
The Saints were able to get a balanced workload in their laugher over the Colts. Darren Sproles rushed 12 times for 88 yards and Pierre Thomas added ten rushes for 57 yards. If Ingram were to miss any time, Thomas would likely get the heavier carries, with Sproles coming on as his usual change of pace self.
The Saints will have more information in the next day or two, but it would not be surprising to see Ingram somewhat limited in practice this week. The Saints travel to face the St. Louis Rams next week and while it is no gimme matchup, they will be heavy favorites. If Ingram is at all limited heading into the game, they may be extra cautious given the matchup.
