We're back for another week of notable fantasy football performances around the NFL and Cam Newton is back once again. After seeing his numbers dip in week three thanks in no small part to a monsoon, Newton bounced back against the Chicago Bears, finishing the game with 374 passing yards, a passing touchdown, 35 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. The Panthers lost 34-29 but Newton was a do-everything guy once again.
Cam Newton Fantasy Recap: Who Needs Wins When You Can Get Yards?
At this point he is officially a fantasy force. The back-to-back 400+ yards was impressive, but to put together monstrous games three times in four weeks, with one week having a weather excuse, I don’t know what else to say. He’ll have some struggles along the way because that’s just the way the NFL works. At the same time, there is nothing to indicate he won’t remain a strong fantasy quarterback most of this season.
It’s hard to say where exactly he ranks at this point. He’s put up monster numbers like many of the elites, but he doesn’t quite have the experience they have. For now it’s simply a matter of riding the wave and sticking with the hot streak. If you grabbed him late as a flier alongside a strong starting QB, you’ve got some great trade bait. If you have one of the QBs below the Brady, Rodgers, Brees group, maybe you start going with Cam instead.
