The Washington Redskins went on the road to defeat the St. Louis Rams and introduced another running back to the fantasy football world. Their primary back, Tim Hightower, has been reportedly banged up recently and the Redskins decided to reduce his workload a bit. In exchange we got to see Ryan Torain carry the load for Washington to the tune of 19 carries for 135 yards. The Redskins provided 16 combined carries to Hightower and Roy Helu, but Torain was the man.
Ryan Torain Fantasy Recap: Able Replacement For Tim Hightower
The drawback to all this for Hightower owners is not that he’ll lose the job entirely but that once he’s healthy he’ll almost assuredly lose some carries to Torain. Mike Shanahan has been a pox on fantasy football owners for years dating back to his days in Denver when a new starting running back would pop up each week. It’s happening yet again with Shanahan and is a primary reason I never draft Mike Shanahan running backs.
For now, if Torain is out there he could be a decent option on your bench, but know that the curse of Shanahan lingers on any and all of his running backs.
