Fantasy Football Week 8 Advice: Sit/Start Projections For TEs

We are six hours away from the kickoff of week eight of the 2011 NFL season kicks off in six hours and there are a few bye weeks to deal with in regards to tight ends. This week Atlanta, Chicago, Green Bay, Oakland the NY Jets and Tampa Bay are all on bye. This means no Tony Gonzalez, Jermichael Finley, Dustin Keller or Kellen Winslow. It is not the end of the world, but fantasy owners will be looking for some options to replace those tight ends.

As you prepare for your week eight matchups, there are some interesting sleeper tight ends that are either sitting on your bench, or potentially sitting on the waiver wire. If you need a one and done type of player, here are some guys to consider.

Sleepers

Heath Miller, Steelers: Miller seems to be reawakening a bit the last few weeks. Miller had a dreadful start to the season because he was forced to spend much of his time on the line providing pass protection. The Steelers o-line has gotten sufficiently healthy and Miller is benefiting. Against a weak Patriots defense, he could be in line for a solid performance.

Jake Ballard, Giants: Ballard was cold at times the first few weeks, but he has stepped up the last three weeks with a pair of touchdowns and/or solid yardage. He faces a solid matchup this week against the Miami Dolphins, who have struggled in defending tight ends.

Visanthe Shiancoe, Vikings: After a slow start, Shiancoe has started to come around and seems like he might be one of Christian Ponder's new favorite targets. It is a small sample size to date, but he is a solid gamble this week against a poor Carolina Panthers defense.

Here are the top 15 tight end projections for today. You can view all the projections at numberFire.com. For more on fantasy football, check out Fake Teams. Follow us on twitter@sbnationfantasy.
