Hines Ward Injury Update: Steelers WR “Highly Unlikely” To Play

The Pittsburgh Steelers will likely see wide receiver Hines Ward miss his first game due to injury in quite a while. Ward is dealing with an ankle injury he suffered last week against the Arizona Cardinals. The loss is really in name only, as Ward has been slowly phased out of the offense as the Steelers open it up more. Ward has moved into the "possession" receiver role in the offense.

If you're looking for someone to replace Ward in the line up, Emmanuel Sanders and Antonio Brown will take the reps in three receiver sets, along with Mike Wallace. All three are much more explosive options than Ward in the line up and showed it last week when the Steelers bombed the Cardinals through the air.
