Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall left Sunday's loss to the Texans with a hamstring injury and reports since have been somewhat unclear as to his status. We do have one update as he did in fact sit out Wednesday practice. The Steelers are encouraged he could practice on Thursday, which would indicate the hamstring is responding well to treatment. If he can practice on Thursday that would be a big step towards playing Sunday against the Titans.
Rashard Mendenhall Injury Update: Sits Wednesday, Steelers Hopeful He Will Practice Thursday
If Mendenhall is unable to play on Sunday, Isaac Redman would get the start in his place. Redman has been averaging 4.9 yards per carry in limited play and would be a very intriguing option if Mendenhall is inactive or limited. Mendenhall has struggled mightily this season along with the Steelers. He's not likely to be replaced anytime soon, but if you can handcuff him with Redman in your league, it would be a wise decision.
In the meantime, we’ll be back Thursday with another practice participation report update. If Mendenhall sits out Thursday’s practice as well, odds would increase that he’ll sit out Sunday.
