Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall sat out his second straight practice on Thursday, endangering his chances of playing on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans. This comes a day after he sat out Wednesday practice with the hopes of testing out his hamstring on Thursday. One can assume the test either did not go well, or simply did not happen.
Rashard Mendenhall Injury Update: Steelers RB Sits Out Second Straight Practice
If you have Rashard Mendenhall, you should fully expect to have to sit him this Sunday. There is a chance things could turn around, but for now it appears unlikely. Isaac Redman would get the start if Mendenhall is a no-go. If you don't have Redman, he is likely already off the waiver wire today. If you do have Redman, he is not a fantastic start against the Titans, but given the bye week, he's probably better than most other options.
Redman’s play this season has been up and down in limited time. Last week against Houston he rushed six times for 40 yards and hauled in a 12-yard pass. In week three against Indianapolis he rushed three times for six yards. In week two he rushed ten times for 49 yards and caught a six-yard pass. He has never had more than those ten carries in a game, so it will be interesting to see how he handles the full load if Mendenhall is out.
