Pittsburgh Steelers RB Rashard Mendenhall is listed as active by the Steelers for their 1 p.m. tilt against the Tennessee Titans, but ESPN's Chris Mortensen is reporting that he's only available for emergency duties. Isaac Redman will get the start.
Rashard Mendenhall Injury: Mendenhall Active, But Will Play Only In Emergency
Speculation has come all week that Mendenhall would either be inactive or not play today. Last year’s breakout fantasy RB has been disappointing all year, tallying only 173 yards and two touchdowns in four games, running for only three yards per carry and less than 50 yards a game. Now, Mendenhall is, for all intents and purposes, sidelined with a hamstring injury. Anyone who’s dealt with a hamstring strain can tell you they’re the most frustrating to deal with because of their ability to linger, and completely, well, hamstring your ability.
Redman is probably only of any use as a flex play as the Steelers' offense has struggled. With Ben Roethlisberger's injury probably limiting him and the banged up offensive line, avoid Steelers if possible.
