Chicago Bears wide receiver and return specialist Devin Hester is "Questionable" for Sunday afternoon's game against the Detroit Lions with an ankle injury.
Devin Hester Questionable With Ankle Injury
Hester injured the ankle during Monday night's 30-24 win over the Philadelphia Eagles and was held out of practice all week. Bears head coach Lovie Smith was hopeful he'd have Hester for the key NFC North match-up, but following Friday's practice, Smith sounded like a coach who was not expecting to have the dynamic weapon in his arsenal.
‘We’re confident (without Hester),” Smith said via Mark Potash of the Chicago Sun-Times. “You’re right -- there’s only one Devin Hester. No one has anyone like him. So without him there, we’ll just have another very good returner to replace him. We have other guys on our roster who have scored touchdowns in NFL games. So we should be OK.”
Without Hester, Johnny Knox is expected to handle both kick and punt returns.
