Sebastian Janikowski Injury Update: Oakland Raiders Kicker Looks To Test Hamstring Before Sunday

Oakland Raiders kicker Sebastian Janikowski remains questionable for Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos as he looks to come back from a hamstring injury suffered prior to their loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Janikowski tweaked the hamstring in practice and the Raiders subsequently brought in Dave Rayner to fill in on kicking duties.

Janikowski has not tested the hamstring thus far, but he is expected to see what he can do Friday or Saturday and determine then whether he will be able to play on Sunday. If Seabass cannot loosen up the hamstring in that practice session, he would likely be deactivated for Sunday. if that were the case, the Raiders likely have several kickers on speed dial to fill in for Janikowski. They signed Dave Rayner for a week before releasing him, and he remains available if needed.

For fantasy purposes, hold off on adding a new kicker if you have Janikowski. We will likely get word by late Saturday as to Janikowski’s status. If you have a fairly useless player at the end of your roster, you might want to add a second kicker. If you can avoid dropping Janikowski I would recommend doing that. While kickers are not always huge for fantasy points, Janikowski is so good from beyond 50, where you get solid bonus points, that I don’t think he is a guy you want to unload. At the same time, you do not want to take a zero at the position, so do what you have to do.
