Darren McFadden Injury Update: Jason LaCanfora Reports Raiders RB Out For Thursday Night Football

NFL Network reporter Jason LaCanfora is reporting that Oakland Raiders team sources have indicated to him that running back Darren McFadden will sit out Thursday's game against the San Diego Chargers. McFadden sprained his foot in the Raiders week seven contest against the Kansas City Chiefs. He left in the first quarter and has struggled to return since. He only recently got off crutches and has not begun running yet.

Michael Bush will get the start in place of McFadden with Taiwan Jones operating as McFadden's primary backup. Past performance indicates Bush will get just about all the carries, but it is possible we could see the Raiders mix Jones into the play-calling a little bit more. He brings athleticism that could help stretch out the Chargers defense.

For getting a Raiders win Taiwan Jones could be quite solid. For fantasy purposes, not so much. Bush has proven to be one of the best backup running backs in the NFL and he will continue to benefit while McFadden is sidelined. The Chargers enter Thursday Night Football with a struggling run defense. The Raiders passing game has a few question marks at this point so they will want to exploit the run advantage where possible to try and swing the upset.
