The Minnesota Vikings have officially announced that superstar running back Adrian Peterson will not be available for Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions.
Adrian Peterson Injury Status: Vikings RB Inactive For Week 14
Peterson has been out of action since suffering an ankle sprain on November 20 against the Oakland Raiders. Although head coach Leslie Frazier said that Peterson made encouraging progress during this week's practice sessions, he will miss his third straight game. Chances are good that he may make his return next Sunday, as the Vikings will host the New Orleans Saints.
Toby Gerhart will once again start in place of Peterson in Detroit on Sunday. The Vikings are big underdogs against the Lions. Peterson likely would have made the Vikings feel better about their chances in the game.
Peterson joins CB Chris Cook, LB Xavier Adibi, OL Brandon Fusco, OL DeMarcus Love, TE Allen Reisner, and DE D’Aundre Reed on the inactives list.
