The Chicago Bears took yet another tough hit on Sunday as they lost running back Matt Forte in the first quarter with a knee injury. Forte was seen after the game walking without crutches but reports indicate he suffered an MCL sprain that could keep him out two to four weeks. He will reportedly try platelet-rich plasma treatment to speed up the process. That has been used more frequently by athletes with mixed returns.

In the meantime, Marion Barber will become the lead back for the Chicago Bears. Barber rushed 14 times for 44 yards in the Bears loss. His backup became Kahlil Bell who rushed four times for 34 yards. Given the Bears struggles and injury issues, it will be interesting to see if Bell gets a decent number of touches over the next couple weeks. Barber will likely be the starter, but if Bell shows something, the Bears would be wise to see if the third-year back can bring a little something to the table.
Barber is going to be the big waiver wire pick-up heading into the fantasy football playoffs, but don’t forget Bell. He might end up doing nothing and only get three or four carries a game, but he might be worth a roll of the dice if you’ve got some space on your bench.
