Editor’s Update: Vick will be listed as Did Not Participate In Practice. He threw around a football on the side, but Mike Kafka took the majority of first team reps. We’ll have more on this following tomorrow’s Eagles practice.
Michael Vick Injury Update: Wednesday Walkthrough Bodes Well For Fantasy Owners
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick took part in a Wednesday morning walkthrough, which is a positive sign as he continues his recovery from a concussion suffered during Sunday Night Football. The Eagles have begun their practice for the day but they have not yet released a practice participation report for the day. Those practice participation reports will be key pieces of information for fantasy football owners wondering what to do with Michael Vick this week.
Concussions are a tough injury for players and the timetable for clearing a player leaves a fantasy football owner waiting several days for word on the results. While the Eagles seem to think he’ll play this Sunday, he must first be medically cleared after a battery of tests. The upside is you’ll likely know by Friday what is up with Vick. The downside is you might be delayed in making a free agent decision at QB.
More than likely you’ve got a backup quarterback you can start on Sunday. While almost all fantasy leagues only start one quarterback, most everybody drafts two for bye and injury purposes. If you haven’t added a second QB, I’d recommend doing that even if Vick is cleared to play. As a scrambling QB, you never know when he’ll miss extended time after a tough hit. It is better to play it safe than sorry.
