Ben Tate Status: Texans RB Due For Another Big Game

It looks like Arian Foster is out for the Houston Texans' Sunday afternoon game against the New Orleans Saints, meaning RB Ben Tate has a chance to make some history.

The second-year running back missed his entire rookie year with a broken ankle, giving Arian Foster the room to become the NFL's leading rusher. Now, Foster has a hamstring injury and Tate is the one taking advantage. From the AP:

The Houston Texans' running back is the 11th player in league history to open his career with back-to-back 100-yard games, a list that includes Earl Campbell, Billy Sims, Marshall Faulk and Edgerrin James.

"It's an awesome group to even just be mentioned with those guys, but it's just the start to my career," Tate said. "Honestly, I haven't taken time to really think about it, but I would have to say it's important. I guess it's a big thing that it happened."

Tate has rushed for 103 and 116 yards in those games, and at certain points in both of those contests, he was battling Derrick Ward and Foster for touches. This week, he gets the Saints, who are the seventh in the NFL in rushing defense, giving up just over 80 yards per contest.

Regardless, Tate is a great fantasy option this week. This is the same offense that allowed Foster to become the NFL's leader in rushing yards in his first starting season, and it features Matt Schaub and Andre Johnson, so there are rarely going to be in eight men in the box.
