Ryan Mathews is expected to see a larger workload, perhaps starting Week 5 against the New Orleans Saints according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. That said, last week's starter Jackie Battle is expected to maintain a significant role within the San Diego Chargers offense after coaches expressed confidence in the backup.
Ryan Mathews to see more touches, but Jackie Battle won’t go away: Fantasy implications
Ryan Mathews is expected to see more touches, perhaps starting this week, but the Chargers are confident in Jackie Battle and will likely give the backup a significant role in the offense going forward. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fantasy Impact: Battle started last week, ostensibly because Mathews lost a fumble in his Week 3 debut. In reality, Mathews may not be 100 percent just yet after suffering a broken clavicle during the preseason. In the short-term, expect the two back to share touches out of the backfield with Mathews gradually taking on a bigger role each week. Eventually he is expected to take the job over for himself, paying off for fantasy owners patiently waiting for Mathews to produce like an RB1 should.
