The matchup was supposed to be in Ryan Mathews' favor, but he wasn't able to take advantage of the Chiefs' run defense Thursday night. Mathews finished with 13 carries for 67 yards, gaining nearly half of his total on a 31-yard burst in the second half.
Ryan Mathews finishes with low-key fantasy outing against Chiefs
Ryan Mathews didn’t put up big numbers in Week 9. We break down the fantasy implications.

Mathews had his left ankle taped up in the first half after limping off the field, which may have limited his overall playing time down the stretch.
Fantasy Impact: His owners are likely getting tired of big promises week after week. Mathews continues to see his workload cut short by Ronnie Brown and Jackie Battle, taking away from his receiving numbers as well. He still has just one touchdown on the year.
Next week the Chargers take on a Buccaneers defense that ranks sixth overall against the run. Assuming Mathews' ankle isn't hurt too bad, he'll have a tough test in Week 10.
