Detroit Lions running back Kevin Smith returned to practice on Monday. Smith has been slowed by an ankle injury that he sustained in the team's third preseason game against the Oakland Raiders. Barring any setback, Smith will be Detroit's No. 1 running back in the season-opener.
Lions RB Kevin Smith Returns To Practice: Fantasy Implications
Detroit Lions running back Kevin Smith has returned to practice. We break down the fantasy implications.

Analysis: The Lions can't afford to be without Smith early in the season because Jahvid Best is on the physically unable to perform lost and Mikel Leshoure is suspended for the first two games. For fantasy owners, Smith is a decent option as a No. 3 running back because there aren't many players to steal carries from him. However, expect Matthew Stafford passing to Calvin Johnson and others to be the preferred method of attack.
