San Francisco 49ers backup quarterback Colin Kaepernick potentially running the read option has the attention of the Green Bay Packers. Coach Mike McCarthy says the Packers have put in adjustments in case Kaepernick is inserted into the game. Kaepernick finished the preseason with 122 yards on seven carries, including a 78-yard touchdown run against the Minnesota Vikings.
49ers QB Colin Kaepernick Could Run Read Option v. Packers: Fantasy Implications
San Francisco 49ers backup quarterback Colin Kaepernick could see time running the read option in Week 1 against the Green Bay Packers. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fantasy Impact: The read option is something for 49ers opponents to worry about, not fantasy owners. San Francisco offensive coordinator Greg Roman says Kaepernick gives the 49ers flexibility but the team has full confidence in Alex Smith. This is something that could develop if Kaepernick is effective but Smith’s fantasy value, for now, shouldn’t take too much of a hit. He is a No. 2 fantasy option at quarterback most weeks.
